Editorial: “Vargas Commission” Report Commemorates Twenty Year Texts for Discussion: Comparison of Results Regarding Electric Energy Demand Projections in Brazil Carlos Feu Alvim, Frida Eidelman,Olga Mafra and Omar Campos Ferreira Electric energy projections carried out by e&e are compared with those presented by EPE in the “National Plan 2030 – Strategy for Expanding Supply”. Results of the “Brazilian Electric Agenda” study published under the auspices of the WWF (Worldwide Fund for Nature) - Brazil are commented as well. Sugarcane: the Best Alternative for Converting Solar and Fossil Energy into Ethanol. C. Andreoli, S. P. de Souza... The objective of this study was to compare several sugarcane and corn parameters, mainly the energy balance regarding conversion of sugarcane and corn into ethanol, as well as show a future bio-fuel plant for the Brazilian industry. Opinion: Ms. Avani Caggiano and “Aprova Brasil” Carlos Feu Alvim The evaluation of the fundamental public education has produced some surprises when it identified island of excellence in unexpected places in Brazil. The System wanted to know what brought about success to these schools and evaluated what made the difference. The most important item was the teacher. The author personalizes the issue with his example of teacher.
